This was the week before Christmas. We made different varieties of tamales and we used banana leaves for the first time.  They were delicious and the banana leaves made them more moist. It was our first annual tamale making party at my older daughter's house and now that we know what we are doing (sort of) we can whip them up faster and with more confidence.  They were yummy!

My granddaughter. She's 2 going on 30. Bright and beautiful.  This is from her Christmas photo shoot.  She posed like a pro for the camera.  After the photos, her mom took her to see Santa. After she was seated on his lap, she looked at him and burst out crying and said, "I don't like him!" so we don't have a photo of her and Santa this year.  This one is better; we don't really know Santa anyway.

This is my grandson.  He is 18 months old and this is his Christmas rocking horse.  He wouldn't open any other presents because he only had eyes for the horse.  Eventually he did but we could have just got him the horse and he would have been happy.  He did take photos with Santa. He gave Santa "the eye", like "who are you and why am I sitting on you?" but he took the photos without a problem.  Is it just me?  I thought you were supposed to get the photos immediately but we have to pick them up on Monday.  Maybe because we live in a small town instead of the big city...but still.
Merry Christmas and happy tamale!
