I'm Back!
Yes, I've been gone for awhile. I was visiting my older daughter and her family in San Francisco. It was cold. I mean cold as in bone chilling, there aren't enough blankets on earth, I can't move it's so cold, cold. Ok maybe not that bad but it was cold. I used to live there but I'm not used to the dampness anymore. Damp and cold is so very much colder that dry and cold. But after about the third day, I didn't need to sleep in my bathrobe anymore. I usually take my granddaughter to the nearby park when I'm there and she wanted to go so her mom and I bundled up and walked down to the park. There were not a lot of other brave or crazy people with their children there but we stayed long enough to make her happy and then got home as quickly as possible to thaw out. Isn't it funny how kids don't care how cold it is when they are doing something they like?
Happy Friday!

Happy as a clam. What does that mean anyway? How would you know if a clam was happy or not? I've been on a campaign to not say things like that. Things that don't make any sense or that I have no idea what they are supposed to mean but I still find myself slipping at least one or five in a day. She does look happy though. Happy as a little girl in the park with her mom and grandma.
On Friday my daughter and I went to the De Young Museum. We had planned on seeing an exhibit but when we tried to get tickets, we found they were sold out. The exhibit ended on January 18th and I wouldn't be able to get back to the city to see it. We were very disappointed but decided to go anyway and see the rest of the museum. We finally found a parking place (if you ever go to San Francisco, do yourself a favor and take BART or a cab) and went to get a ticket for the museum and were told a block of tickets for the exhibit was released that morning and we could get one!!! We were thrilled and grabbed the tickets (not really--that would have been rude) we thought we would never see. The exhibit goes back to France when it's done in the US.
This is the exhibit we saw late in the afternoon. It was wonderful and I wish I could show you photos of it but they don't allow cameras (or sketches!) in this exhibit. The paintings were so impressive and of course I'd seen prints before but to see the actual paintings was spectacular. We had lunch there and visited the gift shop for some mementos. I have photos of my lunch and a few others to show you so I will finish my museum story tomorrow.Happy Friday!
