Only 2 Weeks!??

It's only been 2 weeks since we moved (actually it will be 2 weeks tomorrow) but we are settling in and it feels like home already.  It was a little sad leaving the old place and I took a little time to walk around it and say goodbye.  We spent a few years there and although it was too small and we couldn't wait to leave it, it still contained our lives for a good while and while we were there it witnessed love, laughter, tears and change. It saw what others did not.  It should be honored for that at least.  And it was.  So we will leave that in the past and move on. Goodbye!

This is what my kitchen looked like a week before we moved in. I didn't think it would get finished in time. We knew when we would move in but I just didn't see how it would get done.

This is obviously the old color. The whole downstairs was this color and avocado green.  When it was half painted with the new color, I didn't think I was going to like the color because it looked so awful and muddy beside the avocado. But once the offensive color was gone, I loved my color again.

See how awful the green and gold are. I suppose they looked good in their day but really, I just can't imagine why anyone would have thought so. I once had counters that were burnt orange, well brighter than burnt orange so I guess these colors could have been worse. We had to paint anyway, so it really didn't matter what color they were but really they could have painted once since what? the 80's?

This is my bedroom. There is a walk in closet in the bathroom and the ceiling is angled and cool. There's alot of light up there and it is the biggest bedroom I have ever had. To me, it is huge. I love the color. It doesn't show up as pretty as it is but it is a restful green color and I love it every time I walk into the room. It was painted first.

This is the little man helping pack on moving day. He is wearing his Tigger hoodie with ears and he never goes anywhere without the binky. He is actually much cuter than he looks in this photo but I could be biased.

The day after we moved in (March 19th), we had a birthday party for my granddaughter. She is now 3 and in case anyone was wondering, her favorite color is pink. She wants a pink one everything, as in-"I want pink one snuggie" or "I want pink one balloon".

Little man likes the pink one too but he liked all the balloons. When he saw them his eyes got really big and he said "ball!", one of his few words. The balloons stayed around a few days and he played with them till they all popped. It is something else to see the world through a child's eyes.

The beautiful birthday girl. She looks just like her momma.

She isn't napping, it's just my bad photography.

Pink dress.

Little man with his new favorite toy.

Sword fight with balloons with the birthday girl's mom, my girl.

Aren't they cute?

Little man had to try on the crown.

Pin the tail on the donkey. You can't see it but they were blindfolded. Little man didn't keep it on long.

Pin the tail on the donkey for a 3 year old and an almost 2 year old is funny. They don't know what they are doing or why but they do it anyway and then look at us like we're crazy when we laugh. And there was no prize for the winner. They didn't know if they won anyway. It was pretty funny.

She loved her pinata.

Then she whacked it half to death.

We didn't have a stick to whack it with so we used some big paint stirrers we had around and taped 2 together.  Little man didn't know what was going on but he had the opportunity and permission to hit something with a stick and he took it. Look at that face!

Your turn!

She was whacking it with all her strength but her eyes were closed. She really got into it!

She has stickers on her pink sweater.

He's having a great time!

She thought she might have cracked it. But no. After the kids hit it and hit it and were getting frustrated that it wouldn't open, one of the guys hit it and the candy exploded all over the patio.  Then the kids saw why they were doing it. It was fun and we decided we should have a pinata at all family gatherings. A new tradition!!

Cleaning up the last of the candy. That pinata was a tough one! My daughter got it in San Francisco somewhere. Ours here aren't nearly as good.

I have cake and present photos to share but that will have to wait for another day. It's late and I need some sleepy time. Until later....
